Matt Raymond
Conservation Coordinator
I was born and raised in Kankakee County and grew up in a rural subdivision several miles east of Kankakee. Growing up I worked at the family business and discovered that I enjoyed the agricultural aspects of the business the most. With that in mind, I attended the University of Illinois earning a B.S. degree in Horticulture.
After 25 years living in Urbana Illinois my wife and I decided to move back to Kankakee to be closer to our parents. In 2022 I joined the Kankakee County SWCD as the Conservation Coordinator administering the agricultural programs and outreach. I enjoy meeting and working with the local farmers and landowners and look forward to continuing to promote conservation practices throughout the County.
In my free time I enjoy gardening with my wife (she never met a plant she didn’t like), spending time with friends and family, refinishing furniture, and working on home improvement projects.
