Are you looking for experience within conservation, agriculture, and education? The Kankakee County SWCD periodically offers paid internship positions targeted to college students and recent grads. If you're a fulltime college, District staff will work with you to create a flexible internship schedule depending on your course load.
Our internships provide an opportunity to learn more about local conservation initiatives, sustainable agriculture, community outreach, and the daily operations of a local unit of government. Working at the Kankakee County SWCD is a dynamic experience - new projects, programs, and events are always in the works!
If the District is seeking an intern, a job posting will be listed below.
Timeframe: Feb-May 2023 with possibility for extension
Hours: Flexible schedule up to 24 hrs per week, based on project workload and intern schedule
Pay: $16-17 per hour
The Kankakee County SWCD works directly with landowners, producers, local organizations, and the community to promote and facilitate conservation programs, cost-share, events, and more. The 2023 intern will be working alongside the District Conservation Coordinator to continue and expand our “Soil on Demand” ag conservation project through planning, field trial setup and maintenance, agronomic data collection, farmer communication, event facilitation, and more.
